Piston Pump

Principle: In the 1st part of the cycle, the air inside the bottle is let out from the top. In the 2nd part of Reciprocating action, low pressure inside sucks the water inside the film roll bottle
Applications:
Regular reciprocating pumps work on the same principle.

Items Required to make:
Empty film roll bottles (2 Nos.)
Cycle spoke
Pins
Sharp Tool to make holes and Fevibond
Straw

Fun Facts to know:
Piston pumps are generally used for applications that require relatively low flows and high pressures. These pumps are more likely to be used for metering low flow rate fluids at more modest pressures in laboratories and chemical process plants.   Piston pumps are not generally suitable for transferring toxic or explosive media.

Turbines

Principle: A coil rotated in between the magnets causes potential difference : Application of Electromagnetism principle

Applications:
Turbines / Rotors to generate electricity. Turbines are also used in Boilers to generate electrcity.

Items Required to make:
Plastic Bottle caps / empty film roll bottles
Empty Tin boxes
DC Motor
Multi meter
Scissors / Cutters

Fun Facts to know:
Using a regular DC motor and bottle caps cut turbines you can get a potential difference of 0.4 volts. A device similar to a turbine but operating in reverse is a compressor or pump. The axial compressor in many gas turbine engines is a common example.
