Arch Bridge

Principle: The keystone is the most important stone in an arch bridge, without this stone the arch would collapse. The keystone holds the arch together.

How To Build:
Before an arch can be built a wooden frame is built. This allows the stones to be put in position. The frame is removed after the stones are in position.

Fun Facts To Know: The Arch Bridge is very common. They were built with stone before iron and steel bridges were introduced. A good example is seen in the picture below. The Romans used arch bridges throughout Europe and many of them are still standing today as they are very strong.

 

Algebraic Cubes (a+b)^3

Principle: Using principle of areas to understand algebraic expressions:

Area of square = side * side

Volume of a cube = side * side * side

(a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab

(a+b)^3 = a^3 + b^3 + 3a^2b + 3ab^2

Applications:
Used to introduce the basic concepts on Algebraic Expressions
